The first of the three cruise ships that will serve as floating hotels for World Cup fans has arrived in Qatar.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to hold from November 20 to December 18 in Qatar. It is the first World Cup to hold in the Middle East.
The 22-deck cruise ship MSC World Europa docked at Old Doha Port on Thursday. It will officially be inaugurated on Sunday, November 13.
“This cruise is considered its first voyage to Qatar, where it was built for the World Cup in particular, and it is considered the largest ship in MSC Company, and it will have an inauguration ceremony and naming it on November 13,” a Qatari official, Omar Al Jaber, said.
The MSC World Europa, which boasts innovative and environmentally advance features, can house 6,700 World Cup fans. It is 47 metres wide with 2,626 cabins and 40,000sqm of public space.
With only 10 days before the kick-off of football’s biggest event, the MSC World Europa serves as the first of three floating hotels to anchor in the country, with the second one scheduled to arrive on Monday, November 14.
