The Shipping Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (SCAN) is set to host the second edition of the SCAN Dockworkers’ Day, themed “Dockworkers: Key to Unlocking Nigeria’s Blue Economy”, on September 12, 2024.
The event, organised in collaboration with the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), aims to highlight the need for capacity building among dockworkers, who play a crucial role in terminal cargo handling.
The event, scheduled to hold at the Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos, will feature the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, as Special Guest, and former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Chief Adebayo Sarumi, as Chairman of the occasion.
Other notable attendees include Barr. Pius Akutah, Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Shippers’ Council; Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA); Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of NPA; Princess (Dr.) Vicky Haastrup, Chairman, Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN) and Mr. Ascanio Russo, Managing Director, PTML, as keynote speaker.
The event will also recognise exceptional dockworkers, supportive regulatory agencies, and terminal operators.
