Shanghai port moves higher box volumes in July

China’s Shanghai port has handled higher container throughput in July both on a year-on-year and month-on-month comparisons, according to data from Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG).

In July, the world’s busiest container port moved 3.12million TEU of containers, an increase of 1.7% compared to 3.06m TEU recorded in July 2014, SIPG figures showed.

Last month’s volumes also rose by 1.3% compared to 3.08million TEU posted in June this year.

In the first seven months of 2015, Shanghai port registered a total throughput of 21.14million TEU, up 4% compared to 20.33million TEU in the same period of 2014.
