Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has won an order worth $620m to construct three LNG carriers for an unnamed Asian shipowner.

The LNG carriers will have a capacity of 174,000 cubic metre each and scheduled for delivery by 2018, SHI announced on its website.

The latest deal brings SHI’s orderbook value this year to approximately $6.52bn.

Last week, the South Korean shipbuilder bagged another order worth $440m to build three ice-class shuttle tankers for Russia’s Sovcomflot.
