The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has confirmed that a smuggler knocked down and killed a Customs officer identified as Tunde Wasiu Abdul’Azez on Palace Road, Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa State on Monday.
The deceased Customs officer identified as Tunde Wasiu Abdul’Azez was knocked down while trying to apprehend the suspected car smuggler who was driving a Volkswagen Golf car.
Public Relations Officer of the Command, Isa Danbaba, who confirmed the incident, said the yet-to-be-identified smuggler escaped after killing the officer.
Danbaba also said that two other officers — Usman Abdu and Adda’u Dahiru — were injured after they were knocked off a motorcycle with which they chased the killer-smuggler.
