Svitzer orders tugs for hot-climate markets

Svitzer has contracted Turkey’s  Sanmar Shipyard for the construction of six tugs for delivery from Q4 2016.
With 70 tonnes of bollard pull each, delivered by 2000 KW MTU engines driving Schottel SRP 1515 thrusters, the RAstar 2800-E Class ASD tugs are purpose-built for operations in hot climates, which have been identified as “growth markets”.
“The vessels will support our ambitious growth strategy by delivering versatile, quality tugs that will give us an edge when competing for contracts particularly in [these markets] where we have several opportunities in the pipeline”, says Svitzer’s Chief Commercial Officer, Kasper Friis Nilaus.
