Trailer crushes man in Imo

A middle age man was crushed by an articulated lorry at Okigwe Road, Imo State, on Monday and injured two others.

The brake of the trailer was said to have failed.

An eyewitness at the scene said the truck, belonging to Ibeto Group, and conveying cement with number plate XB 882 HAL, crushed the man as it rammed into the walls of the Imo  State Environmental Transformation Commission located along the road.

According to the eyewitness, the injured among the victims of the crash, which occurred around 12.30pm on Monday, were rushed to the Federal Medical Center, Owerri.

Property worth millions of naira belonging to ENTRACO, ranging from office furniture, television, refrigerators, documents, including part of the building, were destroyed.

One of the staff of the commission was said to have escaped death by the whiskers as the truck rammed into his office.

He was said to have left the office about 10 minutes earlier before the incident.

Speaking with newsmen at the scene, the General Manager of ENTRACO, Emeka Osuoji, said, “I was in my office around 12noon when I heard a loud noise and when I came out, I discovered that the IBETO truck had already destroyed part of my office.”
