Transport Ministry’s website recognises Idris Umar as Minister, Emordi as Perm Sec

As far as the official website of the Federal Ministry of Transport (FMOT) is concerned, Senator Idris Umar is still Nigeria’s Minister of Transport, while Engr. Nebolisa Emodi is still the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.

This is rather odd as Umar, who served as Transport Minister under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, bowed out of office at the end of the life of that administration on May 29, 2015.

Emordi, on the other hand, was posted out of the Ministry in 2014 when he assumed duties as Permanent Secretary of the State House at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He was however retired along with 15 other permanent secretaries by President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2015.

Umar and Emordi’s names and photographs were conspicuously displayed on the home page of the ministry’s website, www.transport.gov.ng.

A screen grab from the Ministry’s website, which was captured at 3.30pm yesterday, did not reflect the photographs or names of the current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi and the current Permanent Secretary, Mohammad Bashar.

While Amaechi was appointed to head the transportation ministry on November 11 last year, Bashar has been in the ministry for over one year.

Director, Press Unit of the Ministry, Mrs. Yetunde Sonaike, could not be reached for comments on the matter.
