Truck driver assaults colleague, motorboy in Apapa

A 24-year-old truck driver, identified as Omoh Aiyegbeni was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting another truck driver and motorboy in Apapa.

Aiyegbeni is facing a three-count charge bothering on assault.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 24, 2018 at about 1:30pm at Sunny Success Garage, Navy Campsite, Kirikiri, Apapa.

“The defendant assaulted one Sunny Success by pushing him and staining his shirt with mould and also assaulted one Ifeanyichukwu Amadi by pushing him into the drainage and gave him human bite on his neck which caused him bodily harm,” Aigbokhan said.

The prosecutor added that the defendant conducted himself in a disorderly manner by threatening to send cultists to attack Sunny Success and even to his village.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 171, 174 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.

Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety. The surety according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with evidence of three years tax payment on annual income.

She adjourned the case till July 25, 2018 for mention.
