A 30-year-old truck driver, Musibau Dawodu, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly driving recklessly and dangerously in Apapa.
Dawodu is facing a two-count charge of reckless and dangerous driving.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 4, 2019 on Liverpool Road, Apapa.
“The defendant being the driver in charge of Mack truck with registration number LSD 243 XV drove same vehicle on the public highway in a careless or inconsiderate manner,” Inedu said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant drove same vehicle in a reckless and dangerous driving.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 18 and 19 of Road Traffic Law 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till February 18, 2019 for mention.
