A 36-year-old man, identified as Chukwuma Anyawu, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N450,000 at Kirikiri Town.
Anyawu is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between January 6th and 12th, 2019 at Kirikiri Town, Apapa.
“The defendant stole the sum of N450,000 property of one Chukwudi Enuka,” Onaiwu said.
According to her, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
One of the sureties must be a blood relative to the defendant.
He adjourned the matter till February 21, 2019 for mention.
