Two captains of Agip’s vessels kidnapped in Bayelsa

Two captains of oil vessels belonging to Nigeria Agip Oil Company have been abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be sea pirates in Bayelsa State.

The identities of the two captains were given as Mr.T. Monday, who operates a vessel named MV EBIZAR, and Mr. E. Messiah, who operates a vessel christened MV SOMKE.

It was gathered that the attackers invaded the vessels at about 1:45am on Thursday around Peters Town in Nembe Local Government Area of the state.

The vessels were travelling to Port Harcourt when the gunmen swooped on them, a security source hinted.

The nationalities of the victims could not be ascertained even as no group had claimed responsibility for the abduction as at press time.

Spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta code-named ‘Operation Pulo Shield’, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, said the command was yet to receive signal of the incident.
