Uk seizes ship used for trafficking drugs

The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has seized an ocean-going tug, christened MV Hamal, in the North Sea and made what has been described as a “potentially significant seizure of illegal drugs”.

The MV Hamal and its crew of nine men was stopped about 100 miles east of Aberdeenshire on the 23rd of April as a result of close cooperation with the French Customs and other agencies.

According to NCA’s John McGowan, “The exact amount of cocaine on board is yet to be determined and the search is likely to continue for some time”.
