West Africa Container Terminal-APM Terminals Nigeria hosted its maiden Customer Excellence Awards and Dinner Night at Heliconia Park, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, last Thursday.

The event brought together industry leaders, customers and partners to celebrate collaboration, innovation and shared success in Nigeria’s port sector.

The evening recognised customers for their resilience, loyalty and contributions to improving cargo flow and operational efficiency. It also served as a platform to reflect on achievements in 2025 and outline priorities for the year ahead.

In his welcome address, Managing Director of WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria, Jeethu Jose, expressed heartfelt appreciation to customers.

“Our customers have gone through phases with WACT, crushed hurdles and remained true and loyal to our terminal. Thank you for choosing us, thank you for staying with us, thank you for growing with WACT. Every day is a customer appreciation day, but today is special,” he said.

Jose highlighted key milestones achieved through strong collaboration and constructive feedback, including the adoption of digital platforms and e-services that have streamlined processes and improved efficiency.

He reaffirmed WACT’s commitment to continuous improvement and future investment, saying, “We have invested USD115 million in safety, security, technology and overall efficiency. With your consistent support, we will make WACT the dream terminal for all of us.”

CEO of APM Terminals Nigeria, Frederik Klinke, echoed this commitment and emphasised the central role of customers in driving progress.

“At APM Terminals, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. This year, we have seen improvements in safety compliance, greater utilisation of new products and services and the introduction of new shipping lines at WACT. Every input from your teams impact us, they are the true winners,” he said.

The Chief Commercial Officer, APM Terminals Nigeria, Westtar Kapito reiterated the company’s commitment to the customers.

He said, “Our Customer-centric growth strategy ensures every decision, solution, and innovation is designed with you and for you, because your success drives ours.”

WACT-APM Terminals Nigeria Commercial Manager, Ismaila Badjie, said the occasion will be remembered in the history of the relationship between WACT and its customers.

He further encouraged the customers to not relent in providing their valuable feedback.

Award categories celebrated at the event include Top Importer of the Year, Top Exporter of the Year, Fastest Growing Customer (Import & Export), Most Consistent Volume Contributor, Rising-Star Partner Award, Lifetime Loyalty Award, Legacy Partner Award, Supply Chain Resilience Champion Award, Top WACT CFS Customer 2025, Customer Collaboration Excellence Award, Customer Service Partnership Award, Community Impact Award and WACT Ambassador Award.

These awards reflect WACT’s commitment to recognising customers who have demonstrated resilience, innovation and partnership in shaping the future of trade.

The event featured senior government representatives, shipping line executives and leaders from across the maritime industry.

The guests enjoyed an evening of celebration, networking and renewed commitment to building sustainable, efficient and customer-focused operations.
