Woman accused of threatening to kill policeman at Tin Can port

A 30-year-old woman, identified as Blessing Okereke, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening the life of one Police Inspector, Dauda Abiodun at Tin Can Island Port, Lagos

The 30-year-old woman is a food vendor. She is facing one-count charge bordering on assault.

The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 16, 2018 at about 8:30am at Tin-Can Island port, First Gate, Apapa.

Esebamen said, “The defendant threatened the life of Inspector Dauda Abiodun, a member of the Nigeria Police

Force attached to Roro Police Station while he was performing his lawful duty.”

According to him, the offence contravened Section 56(a) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with “one responsible surety”. 

The surety must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and residential address should be verified.

He adjourned the case till April 12, 2018 for mention.
