Eight men were on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly forcing their way into the Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.
The men are Suleiman Lukman (42), Idowu Oluwatosin (27), Anayo Nwibo (20), Abubakar Dikko (26), Sodiq Ajilaran (31), Annas Mustapha (18), Tijani Razak (30) and Hasiru Yusuf (18).
They are facing a two-count charge of unlawful entry and breach of peace.
The port prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on October 2, 2019 at about 9am at Tin Can Island, Apapa.
“The defendants did forcibly entered into Tin Can Island Port, Tin Can Island, Apapa and were found in a disorderly manner,” Balogun said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 52 and 168(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate T.R Oladele granted them N50,000 bail with one surety each in like sum.
Each surety is required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till October 18, 2019 for mention.
