3 docked for stealing NPA’s towing equipment

Three men, namely Isaac Kadih (41), Suleiman Musa (33) and Waheed Ishola (42) were on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing four iron towing spacers valued N450,000 property of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Apapa.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun told the court that the defendants committed the offence on February 4, 2018 at about 5:05am at NPA premises.

Balogun said that one of the defendants, Kadih entered into the Apapa Quays without an NPA port pass and stole four iron towing spacers worth N450,000.

The prosecutor also said that the other defendant, Musa received the stolen towing spacer from Kadih while Ishola received wire valued N60,000 from Kadih property of NPA.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 398, 287(5)(b) and 328(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge brought against them.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adenike Alaka granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.   
She adjourned the case till March 21, 2018 for mention.
