Police arraign men for stealing bolts and nuts in Apapa

The Apapa Port Division of the Nigeria Police Force has arraigned two men – Emmanuel Ogbu (28) and Lucky Emeka (23) – before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 17 pieces of bolts and nuts belonging to ENL Consortium, operator of Terminals C and D of the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa.

Ogbu and Emeka are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendants committed the offence on May 7, 2018 at about 8pm at ENL Terminal, Apapa.

“The defendants conspired together to steal 17 pieces of bolts and nuts valued N70,000 property of ENL Company,” Esebamen said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 411 and 287(5)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

The Magistrate, O.M Ajaiyi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties must furnish the court with proof of livelihood and evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till June 4, 2018 for mention.
