2 in court for stealing Naval Officer’s N.5m

Two men, Chi-boy Kingsley Emmanuel (22) and Michael Onyeka (22), were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N500,000 belong to a Naval Officer.

The duo is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector James Okosun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 18, 2020 at about 12:20pm at Tin Can Island, Apapa.

“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal the sum of N500,000 property of Captain Udaba,” Okosun said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 412 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate G.O Tiamiyu granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till February 25, 2020 for mention.
