Court fines man N10,000 for unauthorized possession of electricity pole

An Apapa Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos on Monday fined Usman Abdullahi (35) N10,000 or one month jail term for unauthorized possession of electricity pole in Apapa.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha , told the court while presenting the facts that the accused committed the offence on April 22, 2019 at about 4:30am along Okoduwa Street, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.

“The defendant had in his possession one street light power pole which when he was questioned could not give a reasonable account of how he came about it,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 329 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate S.F Aisha sentenced the accused to one month imprisonment or N10,000 fine.
