3 men docked for stealing N880,000 diesel

Three men, Ahmad Mukhtar Imam (26), Akande Samuel (22) and Adamu Adamu (32), were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N880,000 diesel at Apapa.

The trio is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 28, 2020 at Apapa.

“The defendants conspired together with one other at large to steal three tons of diesel valued at N880,000 property of Sea Transport Nigeria Limited, Apapa,” Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one responsible surety in like sum. Each surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter till March 4, 2020 for mention.
