Three persons alleged to be hired thugs and a disengaged dockworker who were said to have attacked the secretariat of the Maritime Workers Union (MWUN) in Apapa, Lagos penultimate week were yesterday arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Apapa, Lagos.
The accused, ThankGod Okidi (42); Bello Habeed (18) and Precious James (19) are facing a four-count charge bordering on breech of peace and being in possession of offensive weapons including 16 brand new cutlasses and two plastic jars containing a liquid substance suspected to be acid without lawful authority.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Adebesin Samsondeen told the court that the accused and others still at large committed the offence on May 31 at about 10.30 am at 119 Osho Drive, Olodi Apapa, Lagos.
He said one of the accused could not be arraigned in the magistrate court because he was underage and hence had to be transferred to a juvenile court.
He said the offence committed contravened section 410, 44, 51 and 166 (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the offences.
Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.O Oshin however granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
Oshin adjourned the case to July 7, 2016 for further hearing.
