4 docked for attempting to steal at Lagos oil depot

A 39-year-old woman, identified as Folashade Adio and three men namely Stephen Chukwuka (43), Henry William (35) and Mosdam Moses (26), were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attempting to steal at a depot in Lagos.

The defendants are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempting to steal.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha told the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 21, 2019 at about 7pm at AA Rano depot, Satellite Town, Lagos.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 406 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

In her ruling, Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter till March 18, 2019 for mention.
