51-year-old man docked for damaging car in Apapa

A 51-year-old man identified as Rasaki Bolaji was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly damaging the windscreen and bumper of a Mazda 626 car in Apapa.

Bolaji is facing a one-count charge bordering on malicious damage.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Raphael Donny, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in 2016 at about 2:30pm at Queeens Barracks, Apapa.

“The defendant maliciously damaged Mazda 626 with registration number HU 535 EKY windscreen valued at N25,000 and bumper valued at N36,000; all totalling N61,000; property of one Felix Ojaokomo,” Donny said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 339 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate G.O Tiamiyu him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.

He adjourned the matter till May 30, 2019 for trial.
