765 Customs officers face retirement

Beginning from January 1 and running through the year to December 31, 2014, a total of 765 personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS) will go on statutory retirement.

The exercise, it was learned, cuts across the various cadres of the NCS.

In a copy of the ‘Year 2014 Statutory Retirement List for Officers and Men’ sighted by SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, the Service stated that the exercise is hinged on “statutory retirement by length of service/age.”

Those affected in the comptroller cadre are 12 Comptrollers, 20 Deputy Comptrollers, and 27 Assistant Comptrollers.

The superintendent cadre had 27 Chief Superintendents, 56 Deputy Superintendents, and 40 Assistant Superintendents 1, while the start-off rank for commissioned officers – Assistant Superintendents II – recorded 31.

The senior non-commissioned officers or inspectorate cadre recorded 23 Chief Inspectors, 43 Deputy Chief Inspectors, 95 Assistant Chief Inspectors, 104 Principal Inspectors, 125 Senior Inspectors, 79 Inspectors, and 19 Assistant Inspectors.

Also listed were 19 Chief Customs Assistants, 10 Senior Customs Assistants, five Customs Assistants I, and one Customs Assistants II.
