Customs admits 179 companies for fast-track clearance

As part of efforts to reward compliance and transparency in the conduct of international trade, the Nigeria Customs Service has admitted 179 companies into the fast- track concession platform created in the enhanced Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) system.

This is coming barely six weeks after the NCS granted 114 companies approval to enjoy the fast- track scheme.

According to a public notice signed by the National Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeniyi, the Comptroller -General of Customs, Abdulahi Inde Dikko, said the gesture is to encourage importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other operators who are compliant with global best practice to facilitate trade.

Dikko said the companies would enjoy special concessions like express processing of PAAR, priority release of consignment, inspection at owner’s premises and exclusive membership of the Compliance Ambassadors Club.

The list of beneficiary companies according to the customs chief will be reviewed periodically as retention will be dependent on continued compliance.

Beneficiaries admitted into the scheme include pharmaceutical companies, automobile companies, local manufacturing companies, multi-nationals among others.
