The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have closed their National Secretariats, urging their staff and members to stay at home as part of measures aimed at curtailing the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
MWUN, which said its secretariat will be closed for two weeks starting from today, also announced the indefinite postponement of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which was scheduled to hold on Friday 27th March 2020.
The President-General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, noted that the union remains a law abiding institution in cognizance of government’s directive to restrict the movement of people and to further safe guide the lives of our members.
Also, ANLCA National President, Hon. Tony Iju Nwabunike, in a statement on Tuesday, said with the Federal Government shutting down the nation’s borders, schools, key agencies and government secretariats, it is apparent that activities at the port will also be scaled down to an all time low.
“The National Secretariat will by noon today 24/03/2020 be shut down till further notice. Please stay at home with your families. Avoid gatherings of any sort and close physical contact with people,” Nwabunike said.
