Abducted female customs officer released

Kidnappers of Customs officer yet to make ransom demand

Mrs Comfort Alaba Baikie, the female Customs officer who was abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday has been released.

Baikie, a Chief Superintendent of Customs attached to SDV Bonded Terminal under the Tin Can Customs Command, was with her two daughters, when masked men stormed out of their car and abducted her at Tastee Fried Chicken outlet at 22 Road, Festac Town.

Her daughter, Faith who confirmed her release to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY said she was released unhurt about 10pm on Thursday night.

She however did not confirm if any ransom was paid to the abductors.

Public Relations Officer of the Tin Can Island port command, Uche Ejesieme also confirmed Baikie’s release but noted that circumstances of her release were not known.

“As far as we are concerned, we did not pay any ransom and I can’t confirm if the family did but she is in good condition,” he said.
