Barely a month after the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) promoted about 4, 225 of its officers to higher ranks; the management has again promoted yet another batch of its officers.
The supplementary list which was released at the customs headquarters last week had a total number of 183 officers elevated to higher ranks.
Meanwhile, Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘A’, Assistant Controller General, Banke Adeyemo has charged the newly promoted officers to redouble their efforts in terms of hard work to justify their new ranks.
Speaking during the decoration of 59 officers promoted to the ranks of Controllers, Deputy Controllers and Assistant Controllers under the zone last weekend in Lagos, Adeyemo admonished the officers to see their elevation as an added responsibility; hence they must leave up to expectation by adding value to their respective duties.
“As I congratulate you today, I want to tell you that this is a big task, a big responsibility. Your status has changed from today, some of you based on your performance, will have to head a command. So you have to take a giant step and it’s a huge responsibility on your shoulder. You must know how to add value to whichever unit you head because wherever you find yourself, you must make an impact. You must leave a foot print. Let people know that you actually deserve the new rank that you are wearing,” she told the officers.
She however warned the officers not to be found wanting in their respective task especially in ensuring that government policies which the Service is saddled with the responsibility of implementing are well carried out.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, Controller Ify Onwuyale thanked the management and assured that they will lived up to expectation in the discharge of their duties. She said the elevation would propel them for better performance
