The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mallam Habib Abdullahi, has assured the Nigerian Navy of his organisation’s renewed cooperation in the effort to ensure safety and security humans and assets in the maritime industry.
Abdullahi gave the assurance yesterday in Lagos when he received the Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral S. I Alade who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Marina.
Represented by the General Manager Marine and Operations ,Mallam Mohammed Bulangu, Abdullahi said NPA and the Navy have a long history of mutual and beneficial relationship which has enhanced positive development in the Maritime sector.
He said as an organisation that is committed to safety and security, NPA will continue to support all government agencies operating at the ports.
Earlier, the Flag Officer Commanding who assumed office about four weeks ago,said he decided to pay a courtesy visit to NPA as part of his familiarisation programme with other agencies in the sector.
Rear Admiral Alade thanked NPA for its support to the Navy over the years especially the provision of patrol boats and pledged his command’s readiness to cooperate with the ports authority.
He said the Nigerian Navy and NPA “shared the same bond and same umbilical cord.”
Alade was accompanied on the visit by Commodore Ezekobe, Navy Captain El-Yakubu, Captain Alade, Commander Oladejo, Lt. Commander Olabisi and Lt. Etukudoh while the NPA team which received the visitors include the General Manager, Security, Jamil Tahir, General Manager Procurement, Mr Joshua Asanga and Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr Musa Iliya.
