The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of the Marine Bridge, Ijora for 41 days for the Federal Ministry of Works to carry out a repair work.
The bridge, this time around, will be shut from 10 November till 21 December, 2023.
This is the second time the government is closing the bridge this year, the first time being in February. Over the past four years, the government has closed the important bridge connecting the two major seaports in Lagos six times for prolonged periods.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement, said alternative routes have been provided for motorists.
He said motorists heading to Mobil Road from Ijora/Apapa Road would be diverted to Ijora to link Total Access Ramp inwards Malu Road to connect Mobil Road to their desired destinations.
Osiyemi added that motorists going to Ijora/Apapa would be diverted to the Apapa bound ramp of the Bridge to make a U-turn at Point Road Junction inwards Marine Bridge to access their desired destinations.
“In the same vein, motorists can make use of Marine Bridge Access Road to Area B and make a U-turn at Point Junction Road towards Marine Bridge to continue their Journeys,” he said.
Osiyemi assured that traffic personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed to manage traffic flow and minimise inconveniences to motorists.
He further appealed to motorists for their patience while plying the diversion routes.
