Newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Maritime Police Command, Pius Imue said his team is fully set for the implementation of the Executive Order signed recently by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
“The Federal Government over the years established the port police. In addition, it has also created the Maritime Police Command which covers all the ports and inland waterways.
“We are to synergize within ourselves in our own system to ensure that everything and everybody is secured,” the new AIG Imue said at a meeting with the representatives of select government agencies and port stakeholders in Apapa, Lagos last week.
Imue took over the helm of affairs at the Command last month after the retirement of AIG Adeyinka Sodipo, upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
Until his new appointment, AIG Imue was in charge of the Information and Communication Techonlogy (ICT) Department at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
