Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Paul Boroh, has appealed to former militants in the Niger-Delta region for patience over the delay in payment of their monthly stipends by the federal government.
PAP’s Media Coordinator in Bayelsa State, Piriye Kiyaramo, said on Friday said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was saddled with the responsibility of effecting the payments of stipends directly to the ex-agitators in line with the Treasury Single Accounts (TSA).
He said that Amnesty Office had been making efforts to ensure that the outstanding stipends were paid, and appealed to them to have faith in the payment process.
“I must recall that the TSA is a public accounting system under which all government revenue, receipts and income are collected into one single account.
“This account is usually maintained by the CBN and all payments are being done through this account as well; I am urging you all to have faith,” he said.
