Founder National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, has said that it is illogical for factional National President of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA), Lucky Amiwero, to assume that he (Amiwero) has a court case against the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
Aniebonam said this following Amiwero’s reaction to CRFFN’s threat to arrest and prosecute him if he fails to register with CRFFN, within ten days from the flag off day of the Council’s enforcement program, and continues to practice as a freight forwarder or conduct training programmes for freight forwarders.
Amiwero, when contacted by SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, had dismissed the threat issued by CRFFN Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Sir Mike Jukwe, with confidence that he has an unresolved court issue with CRFFN.
The NAGAFF founder however said that Amiwero is just putting up a show of bravado noting that his claims that he has a court case with CRFFN is baseless.
He said that the court case instigated by Amiwero is to challenge the election that saw the immediate past governing council in office and not against CRFFN as an establishment.
“The issue of enforcement of regulation as far as CRFFN is concerned is a different ball game completely because Lucky did not go to court against the establishment of CRFFN. He went to court to challenge the election of the governing council that was rigged. Even at that, the first and second governing councils, four years have gone, and they have all gone! So to say you have a case in court, with who? Because the first council was dissolved over six months ago so I don’t think that the case in court has any substance”, Aniebonam argued.
