To many industry players, the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Board of Trustees (BoT) election is not over until a Chairman is chosen to preside over the association’s highest advisory body.
The first ever ANLCA BoT election held February 13, 2014 in Warri Delta State witnessed nine out of thirteen contestants emerge as members of the Board but to the disappointment of some industry players, the elected Board members did not immediately chose their leader.
The ANLCA National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, on inaugurating the new BoT soon after the election, said that the Board members will have to meet at the ANLCA National Secretariat to choose their leader.
The new Board members did meet at the secretariat yesterday not to elect a Chairman but to select a coordinator.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY learnt that Taiwo Mustapha, the member with the lowest number of votes amongst the nine elected, was chosen to act as the Board Coordinator pending the election of a Chairman.
It was also gathered that the board members had decided at the meeting that rather than elect a Chairman that will preside over them for the entire six-year tenure, there would be a two year rotation for the seat.
It was also learnt that the new board members had requested the former BoT to give an account of their administration.
