There are indications that the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) would mobilize its members for yet another demonstration.
A statement signed by the ANLCA National Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Oparah, and sent to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY notified of an emergency National Executive Committee (NECOM) meeting scheduled to hold Tuesday July 22, 2014 at the ANLCA permanent secretariat to “collectively agree for an immediate and pragmatic solution towards the alleviation of all our operational challenges at the seaports, airports and land border stations”.
The agenda of the meeting, according to Oparah, is the “impending withdrawal of services to address all operational challenges in all the ports”
A threat to shut down the ports over the dilapidated state of the port access roads was carried out at the last NECOM meeting held on the first day of this month.
ANLCA was at the forefront of the 9-days peaceful protest by clearing agents, which was called off last Wednesday, at the Murtalla Muhammed International Airport over the imposition of consolidated charges by foreign airline representatives.
