APM Terminals MedPort Tangier commences second phase development

APMTerminals MedPort Tangier in Morocco is kicking off its phase two development that will add an extra capacity of one million TEU.

In the first phase, the terminal operated with a 1,200 metre-long quay. It will now increase this by 400 metres to 1,600 metres. This will add an additional throughput capacity of one million TEUS to reach the previously announced overall capacity of five million TEU.

APMT MedPort Tangier began operation in 2019 following a total investment of $800 million and handled more than 2.2 million TEU in 2020

APM Terminals MedPort Tangier is the second transhipment terminal established by APM Terminals in the Tangier Med port complex, next to APM Terminals Tangier, which started operations in 2007. This new investment is an important milestone in both Morocco and APM Terminals’ long-term partnership and confirms its commitment to establishing a major transhipment hub in the Mediterranean.
