Five robbers armed with knives and a pipe wrench on March 28 boarded an oil tanker anchored at the Jose Terminal Anchorage in Venezuela, the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) Piracy Reporting Centre has said.
This is the second robbery attack on commercial ships at the anchorage in one week.
According to the IMB report, the robbers boarded the tanker, tied up the aft watch keeper and thereafter broke into the ship’s paint store.
Once the alarm was raised and crew mustered, the robbers escaped with stolen ship’s stores.
Three robbers had on March 21 boarded an unidentified crude oil tanker. They threatened a crew member with a knife and stole his radio before escaping.
