The National Council on Privatisation (NCP) has directed the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to invite seven prospective concessionaires that met the criteria for the Terminal B of the Warri Old Port.
The Head of Public Communications of BPE, Chigbo Anichebe, disclosed this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Abuja on Monday.
According to Anichebe, the NCP chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo at its last meeting held on Thursday, April 16, 2015, directed that the seven prequalified bidders that successfully met the 70 per cent scores from the evaluation of the Expressions of Interest for prospective concessionaires for the terminal should be issued with the Request for Proposals.
The bidders are Bright Ocean Integrated Services, Transnet Rosehill Group, Solent Stevedores International, Neon Adani Ports Consortium, Marine Infrastructure Consortium, Ecomarine Consortium and Global Infrastructure.
The BPE spokesperson said the NCP directed the BPE to issue the RFPs to the prequalified bidders.
Following the approval of the NCP, advertisements seeking the EOIs from prospective concessionaires for the terminal were placed in some selected national dailies on June 23, 2014 and bids were received on August 7, 2014.
At the close of the submission, 13 EOIs were harvested and subsequently evaluated. The evaluation was based on responsive and detailed assessment tests of the EOIs. Only seven applicants passed the assessment.
The evaluation committee recommended 70 per cent as the minimum pass mark and that the seven successful applicants be prequalified to move to the next stage for the issuance of the RFPs.
