Dangote tasks staff on safety at work

The Group Head, Health Safety and Environment (HSE), Dangote Group, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Zubairu has asked staff at the terminal to be safety conscious at the workplace.

He said this yesterday at the 2015 Day for Health and Safety tagged ‘Preventing workplace incidences’ held at the muster point of the terminal.

Abdul Rahman who was represented by Mrs Idowu Ologe said Dangote Group operates with global best practice at ensuring standard in all it terminals and factories around the country.

“Safety is our priority and we follow world standard in global practice,” he said.

Also speaking, the Group Chief, Human Resources Officer, Dangote Group, Usen Udoh advise workers to be proactive at their various work place.

“The best way to reduce accidents at the workplace is to be proactive with prevention.

“There are many ways to prevent accidents but in implementing these methods, you need to be consistent and communicate your expectations clearly.

“Make sure your workplace entrances and exits are fully operational and easily accessible.

“There should be clearly marked potential safety concerns with the proper signage and instructions.

“If an electrician is rewiring an area of the workplace, inform your employee by memo and by placing an appropriate, visible sign near where the potential hazard could occur,” he said.

Awards were presented to staff of the various business units of the group for being safety conscious.

Speaking on the award, the company’s HSE Manager, Oluyide Oluwaseun said the award recipients were selected on merit.
