Car dealer docked for assaulting colleague

Fake travel agent docked for N265,000 visa fraud

A 41-year-old car dealer, Ameachi Odogwu, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting his colleague at Kirikiri.

Odogwu is facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 25, 2019 at about 4:45pm at Auto Market, Berger, Kirikiri.

“The defendant unlawfully stabbed one Ugochukwu Arun with a broken Star beer bottle on his head and right hand shoulder which caused him bodily harm.

“The defendant armed himself with an offensive weapon in a manner to cause terror to members of the public,” Babatope said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 173 and 51 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Remilekun Ojodun granted him N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till December 6, 2019 for mention.
