Cart pushers in trouble for allegedly stealing 12 bags of Lake rice

Two cart pushers were arraigned in an Apapa Magistrate’s Court, Lagos yesterday for allegedly stealing twelve bags of Lake Rice valued at N144,000 property of Lagos State Government.

The duo, identified as Ahamed Salisu (20) and Nura Rabiu (20), were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

They both pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 12, 2017 at about 4:10am at Agric Bus Stop, Ojo in Lagos.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened sections 409 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.

The Magistrate, Mrs A. Alaka granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till February 28 for further hearing.
