CBN investigates CMA CGM, others for forex infractions

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has opened investigations into the foreign exchange transactions of some 55 companies including French container shipping company, CMA CGM Shipping Nigeria Limited. 

The apex bank linked the companies to foreign exchange deals outside the official Investors & Exporters (I&E) window.

The I&E window was created by the CBN as the legitimate platform for buying and selling of foreign currencies.

Other major companies being investigated by the apex bank for alleged foreign exchange infractions include Interswitch Nigeria Limited, Stallion Nigeria Limited, Promasidor Nigeria Limited and Aquashield Oil & Marine Limited. 

Others are Petro-Afrique Energy Services Limited, Steel Force Far East Limited, Auto Petroleum Company Limited, Cavendish Mechanicals Limited, Haitch & Elf Integrated Services Limited, Fenog Nigeria Limited.
