French shipping line CMA CGM has imposed the sum of $900 per TEU (twenty equivalent unit) of containers as “Peak Season Surcharge” on cargoes coming through it from China to Nigeria.
The Marseille-based container carrier also applied the Peak Season Surcharge on the ports of other West African countries including Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo, and Equatorial Guinea.
The surcharge will take effect from Monday 29th April 2024 (loading date) “until further notice”.
The French carrier has also introduced a separate surcharge of US$500 per TEU from North and Central China to “the West Africa South Range”, covering destinations such as Angola, Congo, DRC, Namibia, Gabon, and Cameroon.
CMA CGM said both surcharges are applicable to dry cargo.
