The Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Lagos over the weekend matriculated 432 new students.
The students cut across five departments in the college namely Fisheries Technology, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Marine Transport & Business Studies and Nautical Science.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony held at the school premises, the Provost, Dr. Sule Abiodun urged the new students to be good ambassadors of both their parents and the college.
“I enjoin you to build good character and be a good ambassador of your family. Do not soil your name rather strive to make it better than before.
“Also, the college has set of rules and regulations to guide your conducts on campus. These have been presented to you during the orientation programme.
“You are expected to obey the rules to the letter as violation of these rules and regulations, whether in academics or hostel matters attract very stiff penalties.
“I want to advise the students to shun cultism, riots and unnecessary demonstration. You should use your time to concentrate on your studies to avoid failure and extension of your programmes.
“As the elections are around the corner, you should shun involvement in any form of political violence.
“After casting your votes and exhibiting your civil responsibilities, you are expected not to participate in any act that will embarrass your parents and the school,” he said.
