Court adjourns Odili’s N6bn suit against Dakuku Peterside

A Rivers State High Court yesterday  adjourned to November 29, 2016, hearing on a libel suit brought against the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside by former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili.

The court is presided over by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adama  Iyayi-Laminkara.

Odili had in the N6 billion suit alleged defamation of his character by Peterside who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections in the state, following a statement credited to the defendant when he held a press conference after Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike’s Supreme Court victory.

The ex-governor said  Peterside in  a press conference said that Wike, during his victory thanksgiving service, stated that Odili helped him to secure the Supreme Court victory.

Odili stated that what the APC governorship hopeful said was false and malicious.
