Court jails man for stealing NPA’s cable

An Apapa Magistrate’s Court on Friday has sentenced one Kinsley Njokwu (41) to one year imprisonment for stealing a roll of armoured cable wire belonging to Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The port prosecutor, Inspector Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 29, 2019 at about 6:04pm at Apapa Wharf, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to cut and steal a roll of armoured cable wire whose value is yet unknown, property of Nigerian Ports Authority,” Balogun said.

The prosecutor said the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges against him, consequent upon which Magistrate R.T Oladele sentenced him to one year in prison.
