An Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday resumed the trial of a clearing agent, Christopher Isidienu, for allegedly defrauding one of his customers, Frank Uche, of N200,000.
Isidienu is standing trial on two-count charge of false pretence and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 17, 2017 at Apapa.
Tedunjaye said the defendant collected the sum of N200,000 from one Frank Uche with the pretence that he was going to supply three drums of lubricant oil, a representation he knew to be false.
According to her, the offence contravenes Sections 314(a) and 280 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The Investigative Police Officer (IPO) told the court that the defendant absconded with the sum of N200,000 for the supply of the lubricant oil to the complainant.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
In her ruling, Magistrate Adenike Alaka, adourned the case till February 21, 2019 for defence.
