At a time when government agencies and corporate bodies are updating their websites to serve as a veritable tool for information dissemination and assist visitors find useful information about their activities, the website of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has been left in the dust.
SHIPS & PORTS checks on the website www.crffn.gov.ng on Monday revealed that the website has not been updated for over two years.
Despite the inauguration of the CRFFN governing council by Transport Minister, Rotimi Ameachi since November, 2018, the website did not reflect the photographs or names of the council’s Chairman, Abubakar Tsanni and present members of the council.
The name and photograph of the Registrar, Samuel Nwakohu who was appointed February 2019 was also conspicuously missing on the website.
The events section on the website was literally empty as the only message left behind on the section reads, “Training for registered members – meeting for international federation of freight forwarders”.
Further checks also showed that there are no channel for members or prospective members to interact on the activities of the council as there were no segments for engagement on the website.
The vision statement of the council as stated on the website to become ‘Nigeria’s leading transport player committed to the development of a modern globally competitive freight forwarding system in Nigeria’ may be far from being realized given the inactive state of its website.
The poorly run website is an online extension of the poor state of affairs of the freight forwarders’ regulatory body, showing that the present managers of the council lack the vision and competence to run it.
Almost a year into its inauguration, the CRFFN governing council is yet to come out with any blue print of action to suggest that it is not going to end up like the previous governing councils.
