The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali on Wednesday said due to previous governments’ policies, the country now has no authentic statistics of the industries and factories operating in it, thereby necessitating the service to conduct a census on them.
The Customs CG made this known during a stakeholders’ forum organised by the NCS Kano/Jigawa Area Command held at the command’s conference hall in Kano.
Ali said that it was important for the nation to know the kind of industries operating within its borders and those coming up for necessary planning and decision making.
“Since the de-excising of industries, Nigeria has lost statistics of the industries and factories operating in the country, their locations and the status of their capacity in terms of production,” he said.
